Fic: Turnabout Alchemist - Chapter 1
I actually wrote this months ago, but decided to post here. I don't remember what possessed me to think of it, but I think it was around the time I was playing PW2. It was originally exclusive to my board, but I decided to unleash it on an unwitting LJ public, as well. Chapter 2 will be posted when I write it. ^^;
Title: Turnabout Alchemist
Author: Me ^^;
Fandom: Phoenix Wright/Fullmetal Alchemist crossover
Warnings: Violence(well, people are getting murdered ^^; )
Disclaimer: Phoenix Wright does not belong to me(though I'd like to own Edgeworth X3 ), it belongs to Capcom. Fullmetal Alchemist isn't mine, either. If it was, it would be a lot less "worksafe". X3

The man looked up at the other man, who was brandishing a knife. Though the man was shadowed, the soon to be vicitim could make out long blond hair and a long red coat.
"If I can't have her, no one can," the nameless man growled before plunging the knife into his victim's chest. The victim died almost instantly.
Fleeing the scene, and leaving the knife embedded in the victim's chest, he just happened to run past Edward Elric and his younger brother Alphonse.
"I wonder what the hell that was all about," Ed muttered.
"I don't know, Brother, but I think we should go check it out," Al said, pushing a lock of hair behind his ear. He wanted to get it cut, but Winry liked it long and had threatened to murder him with a wrench if he cut it.
"Right. Let's go, then," Ed said as he led the way. As soon as they discovered the body in the alleyway, they heard a woman scream.
"Murderer! I saw the whole thing! You killed him!"
Noticing that the woman was pointing at him Ed was about to speak up in his own defense, but she ran off, and soon, police sirens could be heard speeding toward the alley.
"Alright, you're coming with us, pal," the detective said as one of the police officers with him handcuffed the very surprised Ed.
"Brother! But he didn't do it! He was with me the entire time!" Al shouted.
"Sorry, pal, but we have an eyewitness who saw the whole thing and she described your brother perfectly. I suggest you find a good defense attorney for him," the detective said, scratching the back of his head before all but one of the police cars left, the officers securing the crime scene.
With a sad sigh, Al left the alley to look for a defense attorney.

Phoenix Wright sat on the couch, watching tv. Lately, he hadn't had any clients and was worrying about how he was going to pay the rent. Despite solving some famous cases that had gone cold years ago, he was still struggling.
"And in other news, there was a murder last night. The main suspect is Edward Elric, the famous Fullmetal Alchemist..."the newswoman said, flashing Ed's picture on the screen, but was drowned out when Phoenix's assistant, Maya Fey walked in and decided to strike up a conversation.
"Hey, Nick maybe you should defend him," the girl suggested.
"The evidence against him is pretty stacked. The news said there was an eyewitness," Phoenix remarked, and Maya sweatdropped, giving the attorney a look.
"Nick, you've taken cases that were impossible and got not guilty verdicts for the defendants!"
Phoenix just shrugged as there was a knock on the door.
"I'll answer that," Maya said, annoyance in her voice as she went to answer the door and was met by a teenage boy, who, quite frankly looked scared. He looked to be the same age as her, and she instantly thought he was cute and was curious about his dark amber eyes.
"Hey, Nick! We have a client!" she called to Phoenix, who was already beginning to stand and walk over.
"Umm...Are you Mr. Phoenix Wright? I need a lawyer for my brother. He's been charged with murder and I know he didn't do it," Al said, his voice trembling with fear.
Maya gave the boy a smile and took his arm, leading him toward the couch so he could tell his story.
"Mind telling us about it?" she asked, her tone soft, and Al nodded.
"Last night, my brother and I were walking home and a suspicious man ran past us. We went to go see what was up and a woman started screaming at my brother, calling him a murderer and called the police. I tried going to every other attorney in Central, but no one would take the case, not even the military lawyers..."
"Wait, Military lawyers?" Phoenix asked, "What's your name?"
Al managed a slight smile.
"I'm Alphonse Elric, and my brother's name is Edward."
Phoenix and Maya looked at each other, leaving Al to blink in confusion.
"That's the murder they were talking about on tv," Maya observed and Phoenix nodded before looking at Al.
"You know that with that good of a witness, the evidence is stacked against your brother, regardless of whether he did it or not."
Tears began welling up in the boy's eyes.
"But he didn't do it!"
"With a good enough witness, the prosecution can...ow!" Phoenix began, cut off when Maya hit him, glaring daggers at him.
"Nick! You need to be more sensitive. He's scared enough as it is!"
Phoenix sighed before looking at Al, nodding.
"I'll take the case if your brother wants me as his lawyer," he said with a smile. Now smiling widely, Al nodded.
"Thanks! I'll make sure Brother wants you for his lawyer," the boy said before leaving the office.
Phoenix and Maya looked at each other after Al left.
"Well, to the Detention Center, then," Phoenix said as he stood, grabbing his suit jacket and slipped it on as he left, followed by Maya.
As usual, they had no idea what they were getting themselves into.
To be continued...
Comments are welcome...does it rock, or does it suck and I need to reconsider writing Chapter 2? ^^;
