H1N1 Flu Virus

Okay, before I get to the "srs bzns", Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit will be returning to Adult Swim this summer!

Now, to the flu:

My town, which was pretty much an "H1N1 flu free zone" since the outbreak began, is now reporting its first probable case. Well, I'm not overly concerned. Compared to the regular flu season, this is nothing, and people without any underlying health problems and aren't in the groups that are usually hit hardest by the flu(young children and infants, the elderly, and people with immune system problems), are recovering from it.

So, of course the media is going to make it sound worse than it really is and make people panic. Instead of panicking, just do what I do: live normally, if you don't get it, great, if you do, then so be it. If you're healthy, you'll be sick for a little while, then recover. If you start coughing and you're running a fever, go see the doctor.

The usual precautions taken during regular flu season apply here:

- Sneeze or cough into your arm instead of your hand
- Wash your hands frequently
- Don't touch your eyes, mouth, or nose with your hands after touching something after someone else. Wash your hands first.
- Don't buy into the media's attempts to create a panic

I swear, when ever a new (or, in the case of MRSA, not so new) disease shows up, the media blows it way out of proportion and creates a panic. I'm still waiting for the Avian Flu pandemic they were panicking about a few years ago.
